Latest Latino Decisions poll reviewed by West Wing staff; Senator Harry Reid

Latino Decisions survey data continue to have influence at the highest level, being read and discussed in the West Wing conference room, and by senate majority leader Harry Reid. The most recent poll, a collaborative effort with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy, and impreMedia queried 1000 Hispanic registered voters on the topic of health care reform and received far-reaching attention.

In addition to being cited by Politico.com, Talking Points Memo, The Huffington Post, The National Journal, Atlantic Monthly and other notable political outlets, La Opinion, the nation’s largest Spanish language newspaper reports in an article by Antonieta Cádiz that the Latino Decisions survey was read and reviewed by West Wing staff, as well as by Senator Harry Reid, given the importance of Latino voters in national politics.

Translated to English, the article reads:

One thousand voters in 21 states across the country participated in the survey that generated reactions in Washington. The Obama administration reviewed these results early on, and this morning US National media outlets reported that inside the “West Wing conference room in the White House” the results of this study were discussed.

Luis Miranda, spokesperson for the White House, commented: “That is why 86% of Latinos want congress to approve a health care reform bill, and this issue has become the priority for the Latino community. There is work left to be done, but President Obama and his administration have listened to the concerns of the United States people of all backgrounds on this vital subject matter and we will continue to do so.”

“These percentages demonstrate that Latinos understand our necessity to have health care reform. The Democrats have listened to their stories and we are committed to pass legislation that will be good for Hispanics and the country as a whole,” said senate majority leader, Harry Reid.

“From the beginning of this process I have personally been involved in bringing Hispanic’s needs to the table. We can not forget that Latinos are the largest group without health care insurance,” he added.
