Univision Publishes Complete Results of its Latest Electoral Surveys in the Lead-Up to the Next Democratic Debate
Two new Univision News surveys –a National Latino Voter Poll and a Nevada Voter Poll– can now be viewed on UnivisionNoticias.com and all Univision News digital and social media platforms
MIAMI – FEBRUARY 18, 2020 – With only one day to go before the qualified Democratic candidates come together in Las Vegas, Nevada for the next primary debate of the 2020 election cycle, and days ahead of the Nevada caucuses, Univision News publishes its latest electoral surveys: the National Latino Voter Poll, a survey of Hispanic registered voters in the U.S., and the Nevada Voter Poll, which interviewed a robust oversample of Latino registered voters in the state of Nevada.

These new polls reveal Latino voters’ most current political preferences, voting intention, concerns, opinions on recent developments, views on president Trump and much more, in addition to providing a snapshot of the diverse battleground state of Nevada.
Complete results of Univision News’ National Latino Voter Poll and Nevada Voter Poll are now available at UnivisionNoticias.com and via all Univision News digital and social media platforms. Additionally, highlights of the polls’ findings will be featured beginning today in the Univision Network midday newscast “Noticiero Univision Edición Digital” as well as all other Univision Network news programs.
Overseen by Dr. Sergio Garcia-Rios, Director of Polling for Univision News, both surveys were conducted by the polling firms Latino Decisions and North Star Opinion Research between February 9 and February 14, 2020. The National Latino Voter Poll was commissioned through a partnership between Univision News and the Latino Community Foundation, while the Nevada Voter Poll was commissioned by Univision News.
Following are some of the key findings from Univision News’ latest electoral polls:
NATIONAL SURVEY OF LATINO VOTERS
- Bernie Sanders rose by 10 points in voter preference among Hispanic Democrats since September, leaving behind former Vice President Joe Biden who is stuck on 21 percent, according to a new national Univision News poll.
- Even more surprising, billionaire Mike Bloomberg, former mayor of New York, who waited until November to enter the race, has managed to garner 18 percent of voter preference among Latino Democrats surveyed, leaving him in a virtual tie for second place with Biden. They are followed by Elizabeth Warren with 10 percent, similar to where she stood in September.
- The exclusive poll of registered Latino voters, conducted between February 9 and 14, shows that the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, Pete Buttigieg, has not made gains: with only 5 percent support among Hispanic Democrats. Despite his strong performance in Iowa and New Hampshire, one in five Hispanics say they don’t know enough about him.
SURVEY OF NEVADA VOTERS
- One in three Latino Democrats registered to vote in this year’s elections in Nevada (33 percent) says they are willing to vote for Bernie Sanders in caucuses later this week (Saturday), according to the new Univision News poll.
- The Senator has an 11-point lead over former Vice President Joe Biden, who ranked second with 22 percent of the voter preference. In third place was the businessman Tom Steyer, who with 12 percent showed that his campaign still has life, at least in his western stronghold.
